•BIOGRAPHY•
Elatus L. Klein is the half-fae son of Robert Bottom, a humble weaver who was wooed by the Faery Queen Titania. This whole affair began as a nefarious ruse by King Oberon's to force Titania to bear him a child. The fairy lovers were known to always be at odds with each other, especially since Titania refused to be his wife. In hopes of forcing Titania to fall in love with him, Oberon sought the nectar of a magical flower. He poured the nectar into the Queen's eyes as she slept in hopes of making her fall in love with him at first sight but when she awakens, the first person she saw wasn't Oberon but rather Robert. Under the magical power of the nectar, Titania sleeps with Robert within the tranquil cove of the woods and eventually had the man's child. Oberon's efforts to woo Titania lead to his utter humiliation before the rest of his fairy-kin. Now overwhelmed with grief over his misdeeds, Oberon looked for a way to reverse the spell but eventually learns that Titania had truly become fond of Robert and their young son. Oberon refuses to accept Elatus as one of their own and casts him and his father out.

Now a brand new father with limited experience and barely any funds, Robert decides to give the boy to his rich clients, the Kleins. Victor Klein was a famous general of the Imperial Military who unfortunately didn't have any heirs. His dear wife, Anna suffered from a terrible illness that left her barren. They were loyal clients of Robert who often came to his little shop in town. When they found out he had a son and not the means to care for the boy, the Kleins agreed to take Elatus in as their own without any knowledge of the youth's fae lineage. While Robert was hesitant to sign over his paternal rights, he did so in confidence that Victor would care for the lad well.

Elatus' young life was mundane at best until he started showing an aptitude for magic. Even though magic itself does exist within the Imperial Empire of Illyria, it's still a source of controversy among scholars. Those who can wield magic are far and few in between. When it became known that Elatus possessed the gift for magic, immediately the military showed great interest in him. He was just a child when he underwent their tests. Most mages mastered the art of flying and casting projectiles but Elatus is one of the few who could manipulate the Element of Ice without the need for spells or incantations. Any mage with this level of skill and proficiency become labeled either "Astra" or "Umbra". Astra Mages are the most powerful, their ranking ranging from zero being the highest and nine being the lowest. The Umbra Mages are ranked a similar manner but from ten to ninteen, and they're notably weaker than their Astra counterparts.

Imagine everyone's surprise when young Elatus was ranked as the Sixth Astra Mage at just the tender age of twelve. Faeries have a stronger link with mana, the supernatural essence by which links all living creatures to that that Gaia, the world itself. It's by Gaia's blessing that life exists at all and that mystical energy becomes "mana" when a mage taps into the spiritual realm to claim Gaia's power. With this known, it's very little wonder why the Imperial Military sought to sink their claws into Elatus but use him.

Elatus was forced to join the Imperial Military at the age of sixteen despite his foster father efforts to win his son's freedom. While he never truly voiced much complaints about having to be a dog of the military, Elatus honestly detest the brutality of war. From his childhood all the way to his adulthood, Elatus watched in silence as humanity became colder and crueler. He participated in countless battles and killed thousands of in the name of an Empire he didn't love. His fealty to the Empire was just a matter of convenience at best but eventually his distaste for warfare got the better of Elatus. He eventually withdrew from the front lines in favor of teaching young mages at Gwydion Academy, the royal military academy located at the heart of Illyria.
•PERSONALITY & APPEARANCE•
Elatus, for better or for worse, is a nervous worry-wart. Honestly, the man is as skittish as deer and ten times more flightier than any dove. He's anxious, jumpy and sometimes apprehensive around others but this only qualifies outside of the classroom. As the former "Sixth Astral" and a magic instructor at the prestigious Gwydion Academy, Elatus skittish demeanor changes to that of a self-assured mage with a strong background in the magical arts. He's calm and collected before his students, almost completely different person than he is within a more social setting. Elatus prides himself in his magic and certainly loves talking about it but seems to lack the social graces to speak about anything other than magic. He's always been quite an awkward duck but his awkwardness stems from the fact that he was quite bullied in his youth. Unlike most citizens of Illyria, Elatus is half-fae.

Faeries are something of an oddity in Illyria. They're not well-liked by humans because of their penchant for trouble and are usually deemed as "subhuman" in the eyes of society. Even though Elatus was raised in a rather loving and wealthy family, his half-fae lineage did win him great scorn in the military academy. Faeries are naturally adept with magic to the point that they could easily surpass the strongest Umbral Mage. Elatus' mastery of magic stems from his unique ability to manipulate the Element of Ice. By the time he was just five or so, he could wield the power of ice with absurd ease that mirrored that of a well-trained magi. His impressive abilities won him both the admiration and scorn of his fellow mages. This is why he's quite apprehensive around others. He's fearful.

The trials and tribulations of warfare has left a nasty mark upon Elatus but he isn't without some humor. The teal-haired chap has a quirky sense of humor that is often quite dorky and sometimes sarcastic. It should be noted that in his "true" form, Elatus acts more carefree with a laissez faire sort of demeanor about him. He's more childish in this aspect when he's in his faery form but he shouldn't be mistaken for a child. Even as a faery, Elatus still clings to his dignity as both a man and a mage. If anything, he's certainly more dangerous in his fae-form since he's perfectly in-tuned with his magical abilities. While he can perform magic in his human form, Elatus' power sparks nearly tenfold in his true form.

There's a reason why he's the Sixth Astral.
